The MSInfo report contains information about the hardware and software infrastructure of the PC.
The Windows Event Logs contain all sort of system information logged by Windows. The ones which interest us are:
Application logs: The Application log contains events logged by applications or programs. For example, a database program might record a file error in the application log. Program developers decide which events to log.
System logs: The System log contains events logged by Windows system components. For example, the failure of a driver or other system component to load during startup is recorded in the system log. The event types logged by system components are predetermined by Windows.
How to collect the MSInfo report?
- Open a Run prompt (you can use the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + R).
- Type in “msinfo32” and confirm.
- On the System Information page, go to File > Save.
- Do not use Export instead of Save! This creates a text file which is very hard to read, the file should be instead saved in the .nfo format.
- Name the file “Msinfo” and save it somewhere on the PC.
