Norton browser extensions let you analyze websites that you visit and helps detect if there are any viruses, spyware, malware, or other online threats. They also offer you a secure online location where you can store all of your sensitive information such as logins, personal information, and financial information.
After you install Norton device security on your computer or on your Mac device, you are prompted to add the Norton browser extensions. The extensions support Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari browsers.
The Norton browser extensions include:
- Norton Safe Web
- Norton Safe Search
- Norton Home Page
- Norton Password Manager
- Norton Privacy Builder
Norton Privacy Builder is available on the Google Chrome browser for US only.
To install the Norton browser extensions, select your browser:
Google Chrome
Add Norton browser extensions in Google Chrome
- Start Norton.
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click .
- In the Norton main window, click .
- From the browser drop-down list, select and click .
- In the Browser Protection page, click the option of Norton Safe Web.
- In the Chrome Web Store page that appears, click and follow the on-screen instructions to install the extension.
- After you enable Norton Safe Web, you can enable Norton Safe Search, Norton Home Page, Norton Password Manager, and Norton Privacy Builder extensions. You can use the option and follow the on-screen instructions to enable these extensions.
Norton Privacy Builder is available on the Google Chrome browser for US only.
To enable all the Norton extensions in Google Chrome, click and follow the on-screen instructions.
You must have the latest version of Norton to install the browser extensions of Google Chrome. If you do not have the latest version, run LiveUpdate in your Norton product.
If your Norton Password Manager and Norton Safe Web extensions are missing, they could be disabled. To enable the extensions, read Turn off on turn on Norton Safe Web or Turn off or turn on Norton Password Manager.

Microsoft Edge (version 79 or later)
Microsoft has launched a new version of Microsoft Edge based on the Chromium open-source project. Norton offers the following browser extensions for this new browser version on the Microsoft Edge store.
- Norton Password Manager – Helps provide the tools you need to create, store, and manage your passwords, credit card and other sensitive information online more safely and securely
- Norton Safe Web – Provides protection from online threats while you browse the web
The extensions are available for both Windows and Mac platforms.
Add Norton Password Manager extension in Microsoft Edge
- Start Norton.
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click .
- In the Norton main window, click .
- From the browser drop-down list, select and click .
- In the Browser Protection page, click the option of Norton Safe Web.
- After you enable Norton Safe Web, you can enable Norton Safe Search, Norton Home Page, and Norton Password Manager extensions. You can use the option and follow the on-screen instructions to enable these extensions.
If your Norton Password Manager and Norton Safe Web extensions are missing, they could be disabled. To enable the extensions, read Turn off on turn on Norton Safe Web or Turn off or turn on Norton Password Manager.
Microsoft Edge (version 44 or earlier)
Add Norton browser extension in Microsoft Edge
- Start the Microsoft Edge browser.
- On the top-right corner, click the button and select .
- In the Extensions window, click .
- In the Store window, type Norton in the Search box and click from the results.
- Click .
After the extension is installed, click .
- In the You have a new extension pop-up window, click .
- To display the Norton Password Manager icon on the address bar, click the button on the top-right corner of the browser and click .
- In the Extension window, select .
- In the Norton Password Manager window, under Show button next to the address bar, move the slider to .
You can also launch the Browser Protection page in Microsoft Edge by clicking the option in the Internet Security pillar.
Mozilla Firefox
Add Norton browser features in Mozilla Firefox
- Start Norton.
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click .

- In the Browser Protection page, click the option of Norton Safe Web.
- In the extensions pop-up that appears, click and then click .

Internet Explorer
Add Norton browser extension in Internet Explorer
- Start Norton.
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click .
- In the Norton main window, click
- From the browser drop-down list, select and click .
- In the Browser Protection page, click the option of Norton Safe Web.
- After you have enable Norton Security toolbar, you can enable Norton Safe Search, Norton Home Page and Norton Password Manager extensions for your browser.
You can use the option and follow the on-screen instructions to enable these features.
- If you have not installed any one of the extensions, the Internet Explorer Protection Alert notification appears when you launch Internet Explorer after a week.
Click and follow the on-screen instructions to install the extensions.
Support is also available for the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser using older technology of browser add-ons. We recommend using Microsoft Edge or another browser as an alternate browser.
If you want to enable the Norton extension at a later time, click
. If you do not want the notification alert to appear, click .You must have the latest version of Norton to install the browser extensions of Internet Explorer. If you do not have the latest version, run LiveUpdate in your Norton product.
