Situation
When an upgrade of the software is carried out, the task is launched and ready to be performed after the computer is rebooted. However, if the Fast Startup (Windows 10) or Fast Boot (Windows 8) option is enabled at the endpoint, the upgrade does not take place. This is so because in the fast startup mode, the operating system goes into a kind of hibernation state and therefore is not really rebooted, although the user might think so.
Solution
From version 3.61 of Panda Adaptive Defense 360 on Aether, Windows 10’s Fast Startup feature is automatically disabled during protection updates. This way we make sure the protection is updated even on computers with Fast Startup enabled. The hibernation feature is disabled on computers with updates pending for more than 15 days in order to force users to restart their computers.
For versions earlier than 3.61, please ensure the fast boot option is disabled on the endpoint for the upgrade to take place. To do so, please refer to the Microsoft Forum article on this matter.
