This topic explains why Windows is requesting a digitally signed driver when you are installing FREEDOME VPN on a Windows 7 computer.
Symptoms
If you’re trying to install FREEDOME VPN on Windows 7, you may see the following error message:
This error prevents FREEDOME VPN from being installed.
Diagnosis
The reason for this is that the FREEDOME VPN driver has been signed with a certificate that an unpatched Windows 7 is not aware of. Normally, Windows receives updated root certificates automatically from Windows Update. If you have disabled Windows Update or, for some reason, you have not installed the Windows patch that includes this root certificate, the above error occurs.
Solution
To solve the problem:
Download and install the correct patch from the following Microsoft page: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/3033929.
Note: There are different patches for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. You need to select the one that matches your operating system version. For more information, see the following Microsoft article: Is my PC running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?
