Many different kinds of malware can make changes to the Mac system that Malwarebytes cannot fix, such as malicious changes to browser settings, and the addition of malicious system profiles. Malwarebytes can remove malware responsible, but it cannot fix changes made to the system. You may need to check your system preferences to ensure your settings are as you expect.

To check for unwanted or malicious profiles and remove them from your Mac device, follow the steps below.

Remove unwanted profiles on Mac

  1. Click the System Preferences icon ( ea58f8c6c6b9d4daec119ad6629265dc.png ) in the Dock, or choose Apple menu ( 2861f407003c54ab1f7b16d2d5e78dbf.png ) > System Preferences.
  2. In System Preferences, select Profiles.
NOTE: If you do not see Profiles, that means there are no profiles installed on your Mac device, which is normal.
  3. If you are able to select Profiles, then select the profile you want to remove.
  4. Click the minus button ( – ) located at the bottom-left of the Profiles screen to remove the profile.
