My network connection suddenly slows down with FREEDOME VPN (F-Secure Troubleshoot Windows)

Symptoms

My network connection suddenly slows down when FREEDOME VPN is on.

Diagnosis

The combination of some third-party networking products and FREEDOME VPN can cause the network traffic to slow down considerably.

Solution

If you encounter this kind of a sudden slowdown, the problem may be solved by clearing the Windows DNS cache. To clear the cache, do the following:

1. 1. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories.
   2. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

You are prompted for administrator credentials.

1. 1. Enter your credentials and click Yes.

The Command Prompt window opens.

1. Enter the following command: IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS.
2. Press Enter.

This procedure clears the DNS cache and requests Windows to recreate it.
