Collect SAML Trace (Malwarebytes)

This article provides instructions on how to generate a SAML trace using SAML-Tracer, a Chrome browser extension or Firefox browser add-on.  SAML-Tracer is a tool for viewing SAML and WS-Federation messages sent through the browser during single sign-on (SSO) and single logout.

Download and Install

Go to the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Browser ADD-ONS site, download and install SAML-Tracer.

Service Provider (SP) Initiated

1. Go to cloud.malwarebytes.com
2. Click on the SAML-Trace extension icon .
3. This opens a SAML capture window. Move this window to the side or background.
4. Sign in with your Malwarebytes Cloud credentials
5. Go to the SAML capture window.
6. To verify a good SAML trace was captured, scroll through the text to find .
7. Click on the Export button and make sure Mask Values is selected.
8. Save the .json file to your computer.

Identity Provider (IdP) initiated

1. Go to your SSO providers test page.
2. Click on the SAML-Trace extension icon .
3. This opens a the SAML capture window. Move this window to the side or background.
4. Sign in with your login credentials.
5. Go to the SAML capture window.
6. To verify a good SAML trace was captured, scroll through the text to find .
7. Click on the Export button and make sure Mask Values is selected.
8. Save the .json file to your computer.
