To ensure a smooth upgrade to Windows 10:
We strongly recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of your ESET product before upgrading to Windows 10. Updating (or performing an uninstallation and clean installation) your ESET Windows home product before upgrading to Windows 10 will help to make sure it is compatible with Windows 10 as well as keep your ESET product settings and license information intact. To upgrade:
Windows 10 May 2020 Update
The Windows 10 May 2020 update may affect the compatibility of your ESET product on Windows 10 operating systems.
- Home users: If your ESET product is version 10.1, 11, 12, or 13 you do not need to make any changes. Visit our Knowledgebase article for more information about the update.
- Business users: The ESET product versions listed here are all compatible with the update.

If you have already upgraded to Windows 10:
If you had an incompatible version of ESET installed, you may receive a notification from your ESET product to install the free update to the latest version.
- In some cases, upgrading to Windows 10 with version 8.x or earlier ESET products installed can cause errors. Click here for a list of known issues and steps to resolve them.
- Click OK and the latest Windows 10 compatible version of your ESET product will be installed using the ESET Live Installer.

Upgrade scenarios
- I have newer versions of ESET Windows home products (11.x and later)—what should I do?
You can upgrade to Windows 10 with your ESET product installed. All settings and license information will be kept.
- I have ESET NOD32 Antivirus / ESET Smart Security 8.0.203 or later but older than 11.x and want to upgrade to Windows 10—what should I do?
We recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of your ESET product and ensure that you are using the latest detection engine updates before upgrading to Windows 10.
- Download and Install ESET Smart Security Premium
- Download and install ESET Internet Security
- Download and Install ESET NOD32 Antivirus
You will be prompted to upgrade to the latest version of your ESET product after you upgrade to Windows 10.
Click OK to be redirected to a web page where you can download the latest version of your ESET product. All settings and license information will automatically be transferred. If you experience issues during the upgrade process, contact ESET Technical Support.
- I have a product version that is not approved for upgrade to Windows 10. I still want to upgrade to Windows 10—what should I do?
Uninstall your existing ESET product and install the latest version of your ESET product before upgrading to Windows 10.

Windows 10 Education users:
Your previously installed version of ESET cannot be migrated to Windows 10 Education build. We recommend installing the latest version of ESET after upgrading to Windows 10 Education.
