Because there are several reasons why AVG Firewall can become inactive, we recommend proceeding as follows to address the most common causes and fix the problem:
Run the AVG Firewall configuration wizard:
- Open the AVG User Interface.
- Double-click the Firewall component, and then click Regenerate configuration.
- Click Yes to confirm the replacement of Firewall settings.
If the issue persists, re-initialize the AVG Firewall component in Windows:
- On the taskbar, click Start -> (Settings) -> Control Panel.
- Double-click Network connections (or Network and Sharing Center).
- Right-click Local area connections, and then select Properties.
- Under This connection uses the following items, clear the AVG network filter driver check box.
- Click OK to save the changes.
- Right-click Local area connections again, and then select Properties.
- Select the AVG network filter driver check box, and then click OK.
- Restart your computer.
If the issue is still not resolved, repair the AVG installation:
- Download the latest AVG installation package from our site.
- Run the file and select Repair installation.
