Camera Trap (PRO feature)
Check the box to enable this feature. After you’ve remotely locked your phone using our Anti-Theft service, Camera Trap will take a secret front-camera photo of anyone who enters your password incorrectly 3 times in a row. This photo will then be emailed to the address you’ve registered with our Anti-Theft service so you can see exactly who’s trying to get into your phone.
IMPORTANT: There are two ways Camera Trap can help you identify a potential intruder. This feature works if you’ve remotely locked your phone using our Anti-Theft service. (This can be done either via www.avgmobilation.com/anti-theft or via an SMS command). In addition, you can also enable Camera Trap for your Android’s standard lock screen without the need to remotely lock your phone by following these steps:
- Open AVG AntiVirus
- Tap the Anti-Theft tile
- Turn on Device Administrator
Note:
This PRO feature is available to AVG AntiVirus FREE users free for a 30 days. If you would like to keep this feature after your trial has ended, please upgrade to AVG AntiVirus PRO. This feature will be available to:
- Devices with a front-facing camera
- Devices running Android OS version 2.3.3 and higher
To use Camera Trap, you need to first register with our Anti-Theft service. The email will be sent to the address you’ve registered with the Anti-Theft service. However, depending on your phone’s data speed and connection, the email may not be sent immediately.
If you have trouble seeing the photo in your email, please make sure that you’ve allowed your email app to display pictures.
Device Lock
Your device will automatically lock itself if someone ever changes your SIM card. Use your Anti-Theft password to unlock your device.
Anti-Theft Password
Tap this option to create your private password (minimum of 4 characters in length), which is needed for remotely controlling your device with text messages (SMS) and for unlocking your device if it has locked itself because someone changed your SIM card.
To change this password, simply tap this option again and create a new one.
Device Administrator
By enabling this level of protection, anytime you use Anti-Theft to remotely wipe your device, Device Administrator will execute Android’s built-in “Reset to factory settings” to completely wipe all personal data from your device.
In addition, with Device Administrator enabled, you’ll get a double layer of protection anytime you use Anti-Theft to remotely lock your device. Not only will your phone be protected by Anti-Theft’s lock screen, but Device Administrator will also invoke Android’s built-in system lock screen. That means a thief would need to guess two separate passcodes before he could ever get into your device.
Device Administrator also enables Camera Trap to be used with your Android’s standard lock screen, so you’ll be notified of failed password attempts even if you haven’t remotely locked your phone using our Anti-Theft service.
Once Device Administrator is enabled, the uninstall option for the AVG AntiVirus app will be dimmed out in both Google Play and App Manager. To uninstall AVG AntiVirus in this case, just open the app and tap Help, and then Uninstall.
