Instructions

You may be asked to provide AVG installation log files for troubleshooting purposes. To collect the log files, proceed as follows:

A. Make sure you can see hidden files and folders.

Windows 10

  1. Click Search, and search for This PC.
  2. Click View, and select Hidden items.

Other Windows versions

  1. In the Start menu click Computer (or My Computer).
  2. Click Tools, and then click Folder options.
    Note: If the Tools menu is not displayed, press the Alt key.
  3. Select the View tab.
  4. Click Show hidden files, folders and drives, and deselect the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) option.
  5. Click OK.

B. Collect the AVG installation log files:

  1. Navigate to the following folder:
    • AVG 2014 or later:
      Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista: C:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Local\MFAData\logs\
      Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\MFAData\logs\
  2. AVG 2012 or earlier:
    Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista: C:\ProgramData\MFAData\Logs\
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MFAData\Logs\
  3. Highlight all files (for example by pressing Ctrl+A).
  4. Right-click the selected files, and then click Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  5. Provide a name for the new file if needed.
