What’s happening
The latest update for Sophos Antivirus for Mac Classic Home Edition will prompt a message informing users that the product is being discontinued, as it has reached its end of life. This means it will no longer receive product updates, or virus database updates. The message will also provide steps for users to upgrade to Sophos Home Free edition. As well as the option to upgrade to Sophos Home on the menu bar:
The main popup message will pop-up every 7 days, or whenever restarting the Mac. The purpose is to ensure users get a chance to upgrade to Sophos Home as soon as possible, since Sophos Anti-Virus Classic Home Edition will no longer be able to protect their Macs from future threats.
The upgrade process
The process involves downloading Sophos Home to protect supported systems with the newest, most up-to-date Sophos product for home.
Pre-requirements
Sophos Home can be installed on Macs running the following systems:
macOS 10.13 – High Sierra
macOS 10.14 – Mojave
macOS 10.15 – Catalina
macOS 11 – Big Sur
