Issue

  • Disable automatic updates in your ESET Windows home product

Details

Keeping the update modules updated is an important part of obtaining the maximum level of security and protection. By default, your ESET product checks for updates every hour and downloads new updates when they are available (typically 2-3 times a day). However, you can configure your settings to disable automatic updates.

Solution

Disabling automatic updates is strongly discouraged and can leave your computer at risk

If you disable automatic updates, we recommend you configure an update task to run at least daily (click Tools → More tools → Scheduler  Add task, select Update from the Task type drop-down menu and then click Next to configure), or manually check for updates often (click Update → Check for updates).

  1. Open the main program window of your ESET Windows product.
  2. Click Tools → More tools.

Security alert

When you disable automatic updates, ESET product immediately triggers a Security alert. To re-enable automatic updates (and clear the Security alert), open the main program window of your ESET product and click Schedule update task.
