Issue

  • You recently uninstalled your ESET product
  • The ehdrv driver is causing complications while installing an ESET product

Solution

I. Delete ehdrv.sys from your computer

  1. Click Start → Computer (or My Computer, depending on your version of Windows) and navigate to C:WindowsSystem32Drivers.
  2. Right-click ehdrv.sys and select Delete from the context menu.

Continue to part II

In some cases, the ehdrv.sys file will still appear in the Drivers folder even after you have deleted it. Ignore this and continue to part II below.

II. Uninstall the ehdrv driver using Device Manager

  1. Click Start, right-click Computer (or My Computer, depending on your version of Windows), and then select Properties from the context menu.
  2. Click Device Manager.

    (XP users: click the Device Manager tab).

  3. Click View → Show hidden devices.

  4. Expand Non-Plug and Play drivers, select ehdrv and click Uninstall.
  5. In the Confirm Device Uninstall window, click OK. When prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.
