Data breaches in ID PROTECTION are divided into three groups based on their severity.
We rank the data breaches according to severity based on the following categories:
- how much of your data has been leaked;
- how potentially harmful the leak is;
- is the leaked data in an easily-readable format or encrypted.
We use the following three severity levels:
High severity
A breach is of high severity if it involves any of the following pieces of personal information:
- password in a readable format
- payment card information
- passport number
- social security number
Mid severity
A breach is of mid severity if it involves any of the following pieces of personal information:
- bank account number
- passport details other than the passport number
- payment card type
- password in a scrambled format
- many pieces of personal information of low severity exposed together
Low severity
A breach is of low severity if it involves one of the following pieces of personal information:
- username
- full name
- date of birth
- phone number
- address
