Each list of firewall rules is processed from the top down. You can adjust how the firewall rules are processed by changing their order.

Do not change the order of the default Traffic rules unless you are an advanced user. Changing the order of default Traffic rules can affect firewall functionality and reduce the security of your computer.

Change the order of Traffic rules

  1. Start Norton.

    If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the Norton main window, click Settings.
  3. In the Settings window, click Firewall.
  4. On the Traffic Rules tab, select the rule that you want to move.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • To move this rule before the rule above it, click Move Up.
    • To move this rule after the rule below it, click Move Down.
  6. When you are done moving the rules, click Apply.

Change the order of Program rules

  1. Start Norton.

    If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the Norton main window, click Settings.
  3. In the Settings window, click Firewall.
  4. On the Program Control tab, select the program that contains the rule that you want to move.
  5. Click Modify.
  6. In the Rules window, select the rule that you want to move.
  7. Do one of the following:
    • To move this rule before the rule above it, click Move Up.
    • To move this rule after the rule below it, click Move Down.
  8. When you are done moving the rules, click OK.
  9. In the Firewall settings window, click Apply.
