Firewall troubleshooting?

This article is part of a series of recommended steps to troubleshoot firewall issues. Click here to start with step 1.

  1. Click Start → Control Panel → Appearance and Personalizations → Show hidden files and folders. Under Folder Options select Show hidden files and folders.
  2. Click Start → Computer and navigate to C:ProgramDataESETESET Smart Security.
    • Windows XP users: navigate to: C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataESETESET Smart Security
  3. Copy the following files from the ESET Smart Security folder to your Desktop:

    epfwdata.bin
    EpfwUser.dat

  4. Copy the files to the second computer and save them to the Desktop.
  5. Restart the second computer in Safe Mode.
  6. Repeat step 1 to confirm that you can see hidden files and folders on the second computer.
  7. Click Start → Computer and navigate to C:ProgramDataESETESET Smart Security.
    • Windows XP users: navigate to: C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataESETESET Smart Security
  8. Move the epfwdata.bin and EpfwUser.dat files from your Desktop to the ESET Smart Security folder to replace the existing firewall rules. If you are prompted, select Move and Replace.
