F-Secure Firewall on or off, edit the firewall profiles, and create, export and import firewall rules.

Note: F-Secure firewall is referred here as F-Secure app-layer firewall.

In the profile editor, you can switch F-Secure Firewall on or off, edit the firewall profiles, and create, export and import firewall rules.

Note: Currently, you can configure F-Secure app-layer firewall profiles only in the F-Secure Elements EPP portal.

What is F-Secure app-layer firewall

F-Secure app-layer firewall allows you to control incoming and outgoing network connections for a particular client device, which helps in securing network traffic. You can define these settings for a set of applications that belong to a specific category or apply them to a specific application. With a pre-defined set of rules called firewall profiles that are configurable, you can allow or block incoming or outgoing network connections for a specific set of applications. By defining specific firewall rules for a specific application, you can also allow or block network traffic for that application.

Using macOS firewall, you can allow or block incoming connections for a specific application or all applications. F-Secure firewall offers you a wider set of possibilities, for example, you can choose to allow or block both incoming and outgoing connections. You can specify it for a single application or a set of applications that belong to a specific category, such as signed applications.

What is the Trusted by F-Secure setting?

You can use this setting to allow or block incoming and outgoing connections for all allowed applications that are signed by vendors or developers trusted by F-Secure.
