Instructions
If you cannot log in during the remote installation, the problem could be caused by insufficient access rights on target PC. For the remote installation of AVG it is required that target PC’s local administrator’s account is used, in domain networks it is recommended to use domain administrator account. Please note that the account must have specified non-blank password due to security reasons.
Check your Windows firewall settings
The DCOM port is TCP 135. To open it, simply follow these steps:
Click the Start button, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Windows Firewall, and then click the Exceptions tab.
- Click Add Port.
- In the Name box, type DCOM_TCP135, and then type 135 in the Port number box.
- Click TCP, and then click OK.
- Click OK.
You can also type the following command at a command prompt to open a port:
netsh firewall add portopening protocol=tcp port=135 name=DCOM_TCP135
On Windows 10 local administrator account is disabled by default. In order to perform the remote installation on target station, you will have to enable it first.
Check Administrator Rights
- Press the Windows-key (the key with the Windows logo, located in the lower-left part of your keyboard). This should open the Start menu or bring you to the Start Screen interface (depending on how Windows 10 is configured on the system).
- Type cmd and wait for the results to be displayed.
- Right-click the Command Prompt result and select Run as administrator from the context menu.
- To activate the disabled administrator account, type the following command at a command prompt: net user administrator /active:yes
- The administrator account is not password protected, but it is highly recommended to assign some password to it. To do so, type the following command at a command prompt: net user administrator * and click the Enter key.
- Type the desired password. Then type it again when you are asked for its confirmation.
- Congratulations, the Windows 10 station is now ready for remote AVG installation.
