Activation using a license key:

/opt/eset/efs/sbin/lic --key=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX where XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX represents a license key.

Activation using an offline license file (meant only for computers that will never connect to the internet):

/opt/eset/efs/sbin/lic --file=PATH_TO_A_LICENSE_FILE

Activation using an EBA account:

/opt/eset/efs/sbin/lic --username=USERNAME --public-id=VALUE

Where USERNAME is the email address a customer uses to access the EBA portal, and VALUE represents the public id (XXX-XXX-XXX) of a license key — this is the way licenses are listed in the License screen of EBA portal.

If the USERNAME and VALUE are correct, EBA password will be required. Type in or copy/paste the EBA password, press the Enter key on your keyboard, wait till the “Activation completed successfully.” message is displayed.

ESET File Security for Linux 4.x users

1. Click Applications → Accessories and select Terminal.

2. Type the following commands in the order shown below and press the Enter key on your keyboard after each command. Type or copy/paste in your password when prompted (the cursor will not move as you type).
   1. cd /etc/opt/eset/esets/license
   2. sudo rm esets_*.lic
   3. cd /opt/eset/esets/sbin

3.  To verify that you have successfully removed your expired license, type the command shown below to restart the ESET service. You will receive the error notification Cannot initialize scanner: License not found, repeat step 2 if you do not receive this error.

   sudo service esets restart

4. Type the command below to import your new license file. If you saved your new license file to your Desktop, the location of new license filewill be similar to /home/eset/Desktop/EFSW.lic (see Figure 1-4).

   sudo./esets_lic--import location of new license file (for example /home/eset/Desktop/EFSW.lic)

5. Type the command below to restart the ESET service again. When you receive the notification OK, your new license has been imported successfully.

   sudo service esets restart
