The license should be recognized after a restart of the following services via Windows Services:

  • AntiVir Exchange
  • AntiVir Exchange Control

In order to use a newer license with an older version of Avira Exchange, please copy the HBEDV.KEY license in the main directory of Avira Exchange Security:

Avira Exchange Security

  • C:\Program Files\Avira\Avira Exchange Security\License

Avira Exchange Security, (Small Business Edition)

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\Exchange Security SBE\License

Note
Throughout the installation of Avira Exchange Security, the file oem.lic will be also installed in the “License” directory. This file has to be preserved there because it creates the shortcut to the proper license file HBEDV.KEY.
A takeover of the oem.lic file from a different Exchange version is not possible.

The license should be recognized after a restart of the following services via the Windows Services:

  • AntiVir Exchange
  • AntiVir Exchange Control

You can also restart the services from the command prompt (Start -> Run)

net stop avexsctrl
Confirm the question with "y".
net start avexsctrl

To verify the takeover of the license navigate to the Avira Exchange Management Console → AntiVir Monitor → server → right-click on Server Name → Properties.

A new window will open and in the “General” tab under “License Information” the following entry should be displayed:

Mode: FULL
State: VALID
