Set up Norton Family on a parent device

To get instant alerts and notifications on the activities of your child, you can download and set up Norton Family mobile app on your Android or iOS device . You can also use the app to change your family settings and much more. If you share an Android device with your child, you can also sign in to your child’s Android device in Parent mode to view the activities and alerts.

Depending on your device, select one of the following.

I have an Android device

Install Norton Family on Android 11.x

  1. Open the Play Store app and search for Norton Family parental control.
  2. Select Norton Family parental control app and then tap Install.
  3. Open the app once installed.
  4. Read the License and Services Agreement and other policies and then tap Continue.
  5. Sign in with your account credentials.
  6. Tap Child’s device to get into child mode and then tap OK.
  7. On the Norton Family Setup page, click Continue.
  8. Choose the child whom you want to assign this device, give a name that helps you identify this device, and then tap Done.
  9. On the Norton Family page, tap Location.
  10. Tap Allow all the time.
  11. In the App info page, tap Permissions.
  12. Tap Location and then select Allow all the time.
  13. Tap Device Administrator and then tap Activate to prevent your child from uninstalling Norton Family app without your permission.
  14. Tap Accessibility, and then tap Norton Family Accessibility Service and turn it on.
  15. Tap App Usage Access, select the Norton Family app from the list, and then turn on Permit usage access.
  16. Once you see green tick on all the required permissions, click Continue.

Install Norton Family on Android 10.x or below versions

  1. Open the Play Store app and search for Norton Family parental control.
  2. Select Norton Family parental control app and then tap Install.
  3. Open the app once installed.
  4. Read the License and Services Agreement and other policies and then tap Continue.
  5. Sign in with your account credentials.
  6. Tap Child’s device to get into child mode and then tap OK.
  7. On the Norton Family Setup page, click Continue.
  8. Choose the child whom you want to assign this device, give a name that helps you identify this device, and then tap Done.
  9. Allow individual permission requests for Norton Family to start monitoring the device.
  10. Tap Device Administrator and then tap Activate to prevent your child from uninstalling Norton Family app without your permission.
  11. Tap Accessibility, and then tap Norton Family Accessibility Service and turn it on.
  12. Tap App Usage Access, select the Norton Family app from the list, and then turn on Permit usage access.
  13. Once you see green tick on all the required permissions, click Continue.

I have an iOS device

Download and install Norton Family on iOS

  1. Go to App Store and search for Norton Family for Parents app.
  2. Download and install the app.
  3. Open the app once installed.
  4. Tap Allow to receive notifications from Norton Family.
  5. Read the License and Services Agreement and other policies and then tap Continue.
  6. Sign in with your account credentials.
