Time supervision is supported on Windows computer, Android phone and tablet, iPhone, and iPad. The time restriction that you set applies for each device that your child uses. For example, if your child uses three devices and you set a daily allowed time of 2 hours, then your child can use each device for 2 hours daily.
Helps you easily set time limits or schedule specific times when your children can use their devices. You can also see the amount of time your children spend on their devices, helping you teach healthy habits. However, the time calculation feature is currently available only for Windows and Android devices.
Based on the house rule that you set, time supervision will block or allow your child to use the device in the following cases:
- If your child has reached the allowed time limit that you have set
- If your child’s device is in the curfew hours
You can use Norton website or Norton Family app for parents to view or update the house rules.
Use Norton website or Norton Family app for iOS
- Do one of the following:
- Sign in to your account.
- Open Norton Family for Parents app on iOS.
- Select the child for whom you want to set time supervision.
- On the Time section, click or tap the settings icon .
- To start or stop Time supervision, move the On/Off switch to On or Off.
- If your child uses more than one device of the same type, you see the option , which enables you to group these devices and apply this house rule to all of them. To set specific house rules for each device, you must ungroup these devices by turning off option.
- Click or tap to see the recommended settings for your child’s age.
- Under Restriction Level, choose the required level of supervision.
- Under Supervision Level, do one of the following:
You see this option if the device on which you set time supervision is a Windows PC.
- Click or tap to allow device usage but notify the child that the house rule is being violated.
- Click or tap to stop the child from using the device.
- Under Allowed and blocked hours, click or tap on a day and do the following:
- Select the total hours per day the child can use the device. The default settings for your child are 2 hours for weekdays and 5 hours for weekends.
- Click or tap and drag around the grid to specify the hours that you want to allow or block the child from using the device. The green blocks represent the timings that are allowed, and the striped gray blocks represent the timings that are blocked.
Your child can use maximum of the total hours per day during the allowed timings that you set. For example, if you set the total hours allowed per day as 2 hours and select the timings at different intervals for 8 hours during which the child can use the device, then your child can use maximum of 2 hours out of available 8 hours.
- Repeat the above steps to configure time limits for other days.
- If you need the same settings for other days, check Apply these settings to all days.
- Click or tap .
Set Device Pin
A PIN lets your child unlock their Android device in case of emergencies, even if their time limit has reached. The same Pin is used for Instant Lock.
- To enable or disable Pin, move the On/Off switch to On or Off.
- Click or tap and then enter a 4-digit Pin to unlock the device.
- Communicate this Pin to your child so that they can use it in case of emergencies.
- Change this Pin after its use so that the child cannot unlock the device with the same PIN next time.
Use Norton Family parental app for Android
- Open Norton Family parental control app in Parent mode.
- Tap the child whom you want to manage.
- Go to the Rules tab.
- Under General, tap and do the following steps.
- To start or stop Time supervision, tap the Off or On button.
- Tap the device in which you want to set time limits.
- Do the following:
- To set allowed hours, tap , tap on a day, and then slide left or right to set the allowed hours per day.
- To set blocked hours, tap
The light gray blocks represent the timings that are allowed, and the red blocks represent the timings that are blocked.
, tap on a day, and then set the time frame during which the child cannot use the device. To set more time intervals, tap .
