Problem
When you try to open the McAfee SecurityCenter, it fails to open and you see a blank, white screen. You might also see a JScript error.

Other applications on your system might have the same issue.

Cause
Problems with your Windows operating system can cause this issue. Specifically, it can occur when system files or components become unwp-signup.phped for some reason. Many components depend on one another to provide full functionality. If these components are no longer wp-signup.phped correctly, they fail to function and cause the type of issue you are seeing.

The following solutions help you fix the problem, assuming that the problem file or component is part of your McAfee software.

NOTE: If you still see the problem after you complete the steps in the three Solution sections of this article, the issue might be with your Windows operating system. In this case, continue to the Workaround section for helpful steps to collect information for your manufacturer.

Solution
If you see a blank SecurityCenter screen, the cause might be by an incorrect registry key that references JScript.
Do the following to fix the above issue:

  1. Save any open work because the script prompts you to restart your computer when it completes.
  2. Download the mcscriptfix.zip file attached to this article and save it to your Desktop.
  3. Unzip the file you downloaded and save mcscriptfix.bat to your Desktop.
  4. Right-click mcscriptfix.bat and click Run as Administrator.
  5. Click Yes in the User Account Control box, if prompted. While this script runs, you see a black DOS Prompt window.
  6. Press any key to continue when prompted.
  7. Restart your computer.

After your computer restarts, open your McAfee product and verify that it is functioning as expected. If you still see the original problem, download McAfee Pre-Install Tool.

  1. Download the following file and save it to your desktop: Pre-InstallTool.
  2. Double-click the Pre-Install_Tool.exe file, and follow the prompts.
  3. Read the warning message and click OK to agree to the changes.
  4. After the Preinstall Tool completes, click OK.
  5. Click Close and restart your computer.

After your computer restarts, open your McAfee product and verify that it is functioning as expected. If you still see the original problem, uninstall and reinstall McAfee product.

Uninstall and reinstall your McAfee Security product using the steps in article TS101331 – How to remove McAfee products from a PC that runs Windows.

After you finish reinstalling and you have restarted Windows, open your McAfee product. Verify it is functioning as expected. If you still see the original problem, the issue might be related to Windows itself. Continue to the Workaround.

Workaround
If you still can’t see any SecurityCenter screens after you complete all previous solutions, you most likely have an Operating System problem. Do the following, and make a note of any errors that you see:
  1. Click Start and select the Search box.
  2. Type cmd and press Enter.
  3. Right-click command and click Open as Administrator.
  4. Type each of the following commands and press Enter after each one:
NOTE: After each command has run, you see a success or failure message.

    regsvr32 scrrun.dll
    regsvr32 jscript.dll
    regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Another command for Internet Explorer 9 users:
    regsvr32 jscript9.dll

If you received no errors during this process, open your McAfee product again and verify that it is working. Otherwise, contact your manufacturer with the errors you received while you performed the previous steps. They can help you to resolve your underlying Windows problem.
