New version available

A new version is available ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server (EFSW) version 7.x is available. We highly recommend that you upgrade to the latest version.

  • Best practices for upgrading from ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server (EFSW) 4.5 to version 6

Solution

Before you migrate from EFSW version 4.5:

Please note the following before migrating to ESET version 6 business products:

  • Version 6 business products can only be managed using ESET Remote Administrator 6, and should only be used with other ESET version 6 business products.
Click if you are using ESET Remote Administrator version 5

You can still migrate to ESET File Security version 6. There are two recommended migration scenarios:

  • Migrate to EFSW version 6 and set up a dedicated ERA version 6 server
  • Migrate to EFSW version 6 manually and do not use with ERA

Should I upgrade my network to version 6 ESET server/endpoint products?

  • Configuration settings from ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server 4.5 cannot be imported into ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server 6.
  • ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server 6 requires a License Key to activate—if you currently use a Username and Password, click here for instructions to convert them into a License Key.
  • Verify all Windows Updates are up-to-date (no pending updates), otherwise this might cause the migration to fail, see this Knowledgebase article for more details.
Do not install over existing EFSW version 4.5

We do not recommend that you install over the existing EFSW as it may result in a blue screen error (BSOD).
