ESET home product in Limited Support status

This article applies to an ESET product version that is currently in Limited Support status and is scheduled to reach End of Life status soon.

For a complete list of supported products and support level definitions, review the ESET End of Life Policy for home products.

Migrate from ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux Desktop to ESET Endpoint Antivirus for Linux.

ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 for Linux Desktop checks for new updates every hour and updates at least once a day with new virus definitions and program component upgrades (when available). The update will fail if your username or password is invalid or entered into the system incorrectly.

If you are unable to download the latest Virus Signature Database updates, follow the step-by-step instructions below to verify that your username and password are entered into the system properly:

Allow 12-24 hours after entering your new username and password

If you are upgrading your ESET security product from the trial version to the full version, allow 12-24 hours after entering your new username and password for the new expiration date to be displayed.

  1. Open the main program window by clicking the ESET icon in the notification area, or by clicking Applications → System Tools → ESET NOD32 Antivirus.
  2. In the main program window, click Update → Username and Password setup.

  3. Verify that your username and password are entered correctly and click OK. The following is an EXAMPLE only:

    Username: EAV-12345678

    Password: abcde12345

  4. In the Update module, click Update virus signature database (make sure you have an active internet connection).

  5. If the latest Virus Signature Database Update completes successfully, then no further action is required on your part. If the download fails, repeat steps 2 and 3 using the guidelines below:

Usernames and Passwords

Remember to enter your Username and Password exactly as they are written:

  • The username and password are case sensitive
  • The hyphen in the username is necessary
  • The password is ten characters long and all lowercase
  • If you are copying and pasting, make sure you don’t select an extra blank space
  • We do not use the letter L in passwords (use the number one (1) instead)
  • A big ‘0’ is the number zero (0); a little ‘o’ is the lowercase letter o

I forgot my Username and Password

If you are still unable to update, visit the Lost License page to verify that the username and password you are trying to use are valid.
