The article is mainly purpose to understand the configurations of Quick Heal backup and restore tool in order to backup specific file extensions which are not covered in default backup configurations.
After this article, user can easily make require configurations to add desire file extensions in Quick Heal backup to be backup along with default file types which are covered in by default configurations of Quick Heal backup and restore tool.
Before, we proceed, we must know how we can navigate the options and lets see how we can navigate the options.

Open Quick Heal by clicking on Quick Heal Desktop icon.
On Quick Heal main dashboard, we’ll see the first option “Total Ransomware Protection” as highlighted in below screen shot.

Need to click on “Total Ransomware Protection” option and this will take you to the next windows as below where you will need to click on “Data Backup” option as highlighted.

By clicking on “Data Backup” it will take you to the next windows where you will have to select “Advanced(Default + Custom)” button instead of default selected “Default(Tally Included)” as shown in below figure.

Further, you will need to click on “Configure” button which will take you to the next windows where the actual configurations can be done.

What type of file extension we do cover in default backup configurations of Quick Heal?

# Data of the following file types is backed up by default.

Text Files: .TXT
Document Files: .DOC, .DOCX, .XLS, .XLSX, .PPT, .PPTX, .PDF, .WPS, .WPT, .RTF, .ET, .DOCM, .XLSM, .PPTM, .ETT, .DPT, .DPS, .ODS, .ODP, .ODG, .ODT
Email Files: .EML
Account Files: .001, .247, .500, .900, .989, .TCP, .TSF, .TSM, .BDS, .SYS, .MDF, .LDF, .BKP, .DB, .CS

Apart from above extensions, we do have option to select category of specific file types which needs to be select manually.

Custom file type: More files that you can select to back up the data.

• Image/Photo Files: .PCK, .TIFF, .WPG, .BMP, .GIF, .JPG, .JPEG, .WMP, .PNG, .TIF
• Creative Artwork Files: .AI, .EPS, .PCX, .PSD, .CDR
• Movie Files: .AVI, .VOB, .MPV, .MPEG, .MPG, .MPE, .MPA, .RM, .QT, .MP4
• Sound Files: .WMV, .WMA, .MP3

In above figure, we wanted to cover “Creative Artwork Files” like Photoshop, CoralDraw etc. to be backup through Quick Heal backup, therefore, we have selected check box for “Creative Artwork Files”.

However, if we want to add some other file extensions to be backup through Quick Heal backup which are neither covered in “Default file type” nor in “Custom file type”, those can be be added manually under “User specified file type” by selecting appropriate checkbox(i.e. User Specified Files) and adding desire file extensions using “Add Extension” option as below and save changes.

Similarly, if we don’t want specific file type to be backup through Quick Heal but the associate file extensions are already in default configurations under the “Default file type”.

For that, we need to exclude the respective file extension from Quick Heal backup by selecting the checkbox “User Excluded Files” and save changes.

Need to click on “Total Ransomware Protection” option and this will take you to the next windows as below where you will need to click on “Data Backup” option as highlighted.
