Important: We strongly recommend that you create an F-Secure KEY Master Password Recovery Code as soon as you have taken F-Secure KEY into use as this is the only way for you to regain your F-Secure KEY Master Password if you forget it.
The Master Password Recovery Code is a unique and personal code that is the only means of regaining access to KEY, should you forget your Master Password. It is strongly encrypted and can only be decrypted on one of your connected devices. This means that it cannot be decrypted on any other user device.
For your safety, KEY cannot reset your Master Password nor send you a recovery code if you forget your Master Password. This has been a conscious decision by F-Secure to increase your security and privacy.
Every time you change your Master Password, KEY shows the Create Recovery Code view. We recommend that you save the code as an image and print a copy for safekeeping. The Master Password Recovery Code printout should not be stored in the same location as your device.
If you connect new devices, F-Secure KEY may ask you to create a new Master Password Recovery Code. If this is the case, make sure you create a new Master Password Recovery Code, as the older code will not work anymore.
Note: When you change your Master Password, you will receive a new Recovery Code. You will always need the latest Recovery Code to regain access to KEY if you forget your Master Password.
