Data breaches in ID PROTECTION are divided into three groups based on their severity.

We rank the data breaches according to severity based on the following categories:

  • how much of your data has been leaked;
  • how potentially harmful the leak is;
  • is the leaked data in an easily-readable format or encrypted.

We use the following three severity levels:

High severity

A breach is of high severity if it involves any of the following pieces of personal information:

  • password in a readable format
  • payment card information
  • passport number
  • social security number

Mid severity

A breach is of mid severity if it involves any of the following pieces of personal information:

  • bank account number
  • passport details other than the passport number
  • payment card type
  • password in a scrambled format
  • many pieces of personal information of low severity exposed together

Low severity

A breach is of low severity if it involves one of the following pieces of personal information:

  • username
  • full name
  • date of birth
  • phone number
  • address
