VPN icon may not always be visible on iPhones and iPads even if the FREEDOME VPN is on (F-Secure Troubleshoot IOS)

When FREEDOME VPN establishes a connection, the VPN icon should appear on the status bar on the top of the iPhone or iPad screen.

Sometimes, the VPN icon may not appear on the status bar despite the fact that the FREEDOME VPN connection has been established. You can confirm this as follows:

  • FREEDOME VPN’s own user interface shows that the connection is ON
  • the VPN switch in the device settings (Settings > VPN) is switched on.

The reason for this seems to be an issue in the iOS operating system.

Also, in some iPhone models, the iPhone notch may hide the VPN icon and the notifications. You can see the VPN icon by swiping down the screen from the top-right corner.
