McAfee Mobile Security is being replaced with McAfee Security. When you upgrade to the new McAfee Security app, the features described in this article are removed.

Because the features described below are not available in the new McAfee Security app, this article is not relevant to McAfee Security.

There are several ways to activate McAfee Mobile Security (MMS) depending on how you obtained the app. This article details the different methods and flows that you might experience.

New McAfee customer
Activate McAfee Mobile Security with these steps if you are a new McAfee customer:

  1. While you set up Mobile Security, click the stacked menu (hamburger) icon on the top right.
  2. Type your email address.
  3. Create and verify a password.

    NOTE: To see the actual characters, select Show Password.

  4. Select your country.
  5. Read and accept the license agreement.
  6. Tap Continue. The email address is the McAfee account user name.
  7. Type a phone number (optional).
  8. Create and verify a PIN.
  9. Tap Continue.
  10. Select Activate or Cancel on the Device Admin setup screen.

    New welcome tutorial screens display. To skip, select Go To Main Menu.

Existing McAfee customer
Activate McAfee Mobile Security with these steps if you are already a McAfee customer:

  1. Type the email address.
  2. Type the password.

    NOTE: To see the actual characters, select Show Password.

  3. Select the appropriate Country.
  4. Read and accept the license agreement.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Select the available subscription you want to use.
  7. Tap Continue.
  8. Type a phone number (optional).
  9. Type and verify the PIN for the existing MMS account.
  10. Tap Continue.
  11. Select Activate or Cancel on the Device Admin set up screen.

    New welcome tutorial screens display. To skip, select Go To Main Menu.

Activation Code flow
You might have been provided with an activation code when you purchased McAfee Mobile Security. These steps detail how to activate with that code.

  1. Tap the stacked menu (hamburger) icon on the top right.
  2. Tap Enter Activation code.
  3. Enter the activation code.
  4. Type a phone number (optional).
  5. Create and verify a PIN.
  6. Tap Continue.
  7. Select Activate or Cancel on the Device Admin set up screen.

Sign in with Telco/ISP flow
If you obtained McAfee Mobile Security through your Telco or ISP, use these steps to activate the product.

  1. Select the appropriate Country.
  2. Enter a phone number.
  3. Read and accept the license agreement.
  4. Tap Continue.
  5. Type the email address.
  6. Create and verify a password.
