Norton Family browser extension is a small program that is required for some Norton Family features to work. It is available currently for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Edge. You must enable it on all the supported browsers that your child uses to connect to the Internet. The features that require this extension are the following:

  • Search supervision for HTTPS sites
  • Video supervision
  • Web supervision for HTTPS sites

Features such as time supervision and instant lock will work even if the extension is disabled. If your child’s PC has Norton Family version 3.7.3 or later, Norton Family adds a second layer of protection and shows a browser-specific block page even if your child had tampered browser extension, launched incognito or private browsing modes, or used unsupported third-party browsers to access a blocked website. If your child turns off or tries to uninstall the Norton Family browser extension, you will receive a notification.
