Instructions

You may be asked to provide AVG installation log files for troubleshooting purposes. To collect the log files proceed as follows:

A. Make sure you can see hidden files and folders:

  1. In the Start menu click Computer (or My Computer).
  2. Click Tools, and then click Folder options.
    Note: you may need to press the Alt key to display the Tools menu.
  3. Click the tab View.
  4. Tick the option Show hidden files, folders and drives, and un-tick the option Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
  5. Click OK.

B. Collect the AVG installation log files:

  1. Navigate to the following folder:
    AVG 2014, AVG 2015 or AVG 2016:
    Windows Vista/7/8/10: c:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Local\MFAData\logs\
    Windows XP: c:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\MFAData\logs\
    AVG 2012 or older:
    Windows Vista/7: C:\ProgramData\MFAData\Logs\
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MFAData\Logs\
  2. Highlight all files (e.g. by pressing Ctrl+A).
  3. Right-click the selected files, and then click Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder.
  4. Choose a name for the new file if needed.
