June 11, 2019

Severity: Critical

ESET has identified a problem with ESET Endpoint Encryption when upgrading a Windows 10 system to the 1903 build. Installing the update can cause the system to crash when booting.

Customer Advisory

ESET is aware of a technical problem between our product ESET Endpoint Encryption and the latest Windows 10 system upgrade – build 1903.

The issue is triggered when upgrading a Windows 10 system running ESET Endpoint Encryption to the 1903 feature update. Installing the update can cause the system to crash (show BSOD) when booting.

This problem has the potential to cause business disruption and we advise customers using ESET Endpoint Encryption and Windows 10 not to upgrade to the new Windows build at this time. In case of any issues experienced, use the links below to reach out to our technical support that will assist the users with urgent priority.

Systems that have been affected will need to be decrypted using our recovery tool (if full disk encryption was enabled) and then repaired using the Windows recovery console. See “Resources” below for more details.
