You might want to check the status of your subscription because your My Account page at home.mcafee.com shows that your subscription shows as expired.

If you see repeated and unexpected “McAfee subscription expired” pop-up messages, follow the steps in TS101424.

We have also included detailed steps below. It’s best to follow these steps in order:

Verifying your subscription on your PC or Mac syncs your computer’s subscription information to home.mcafee.com.

  • Use these steps if you have a Windows PC:
    1. Right-click the McAfee M-shield  icon next to your PC’s clock. If the McAfee icon is not visible, click the show more icons button.
    2. Click Verify Subscription.
    3. Click Yes if you are prompted to allow the app to make changes to your device.
    4. Wait for the process to complete.
    5. Check to see if the correct subscription information is now shown.
  • Use these steps if you have a Mac:
    1. Open your McAfee security product for macOS, such as LiveSafe.
    2. Click Account.
    3. Click Verify in the lower-right corner.
    4. Click Verify again in the Verify Subscription window.
    5. Wait for the process to complete.
    6. Check to see if the correct subscription information is now shown.

If there is still a problem with your subscription information, continue to Step 2.

  1. Go to home.mcafee.com.
  2. Click My Account.
  3. Click Sign In.
  4. Type the following:
    • The email address for your McAfee account.
    • The password for your McAfee account.
  5. Click Log in.
  6. Under My Account, select the computer running your McAfee software.
  7. Make a note of the subscription information that displays.
  8. Open your McAfee product, such as LiveSafe or Total Protection.
  9. Click one of the following tabs in your McAfee software:
    • Account tab – on macOS
    • My Info tab – on Windows
  10. Verify that the Expiration Date and email addresses match the details shown in your My Account page.
If the information does not match, click Verify to sync your information. If Verify fails, contact Customer Service.

If none of the above steps help, it is possible that your subscription has expired. Follow the next step to renew your subscription:

If your subscription is going to expire within the next 30 days, or has recently expired, you can renew for another year:

  1. Go to My Account on to home.mcafee.com.
  2. Select the computer that requires a renewal.
  3. Click Renew in the details section.

NOTE: The Renew link is not available for Retail or Trial services. If you have a Retail or Trial service that you want to renew, contact Customer Service.

  4. Follow the prompts and, if requested, provide your billing information.

If your renewal information is up to date and you still have a problem, your computer’s system date and time might not be correct. To update the date and time, follow these steps:

  1. Open the clock in your taskbar.
  2. Verify that the date and time are correct. If they are incorrect, change them to the correct settings.
  3. Log on to My Account again.
  4. Confirm that your subscription information is correct.

If your system date and time are correct, and your subscription still incorrectly shows as expired, contact Customer Service.
